The
American League could not get anymore exciting, thanks to
another great day of baseball. Division leaders Philadelphia
and Chicago both lost, as the A's dropped one to Cleveland
9-6, while the White Sox lost to St. Louis 4-0. Baltimore
took advantage of the opportunity, as they created another
three way tie atop the AL, with their 8-1 beating of Detroit.
The loss puts Detroit in an unfavorable position, two games
back with just two to play. A win by any of the three teams
eliminates Detroit.
In
the National League Brooklyn failed to take control once again.
The Superbas lost their 4th in a row, this time a 6-3 loss
to Cincinnati. The good news is that Pittsburgh also lost
5-3 against Chicago to keep the Superbas hopes alive. They
are two games back with two to play. A win by Pittsburgh,
or a loss by Brooklyn eliminates them from contention.
