A leading contender, DeGrasse battled and lost to some of the biggest names in boxing in the late thirties, including Henry Armstrong, Petey Scalzo, Jackie Wilson, Chalky Wright, Mike Belloise, Al Roth, and Pete Sanstol. He also posted victories over Roth, Georgie Hansford, Young Rightmire, Lew Feldman, Vittorio Tamagnini, Petey Hayes, and Benny Brostoff.
A St. Regis Indian, DeGrasse fought out of Flatbush. There is a superb picture of him
here. Along with Maxie Rosenbloom, he appeared in
Mr. Moto's Gamble, a 1938 "ring mystery" from Twentieth Century Fox.
