After a bit of research, I discovered that Elias Sports Bureau keeps 2 different hitting streak records, 'Most Games, Consecutive, 1+ Hits, Season', and 'Most Games, Consecutive, 1+ Hits, Lifetime'. Hal Morris, then playing for the Reds, hit safely in the final 29 games of 1996, and at least the first 2 of 1997. Knowing this, I was able to track down <a href="http://enquirer.com/columns/sullivan/1997/04/040397_ts.html" target="_blank">this article</a> from the Cincinnati Enquirer.
