Who promoted the fight.

Unless the rules have changed he always paid the bills for things such as hotels, food, the whole works. As you said he is a new ref, if he does as told he will get more work. You upset there cosy little system then you don't work, simple as that. Plus the fact you don't bite the hand that feeds you, well that's if you want to eat again.

You might have missed a posting i did some while back i was telling the guys that i know for a fact that in one championship fight the ref was told to favour one fighter. He refused point blank.

He no longer has a job as a ref and he was a bloody good ref hard but fair, knew just the right time to stop a fight, and always his first priority in the ring was the fighters health.

Many guys who ref a fight today should never in fact be in that job. There a danger to both fighters health, but they play the game and don't cross swords with the wrong people.
