Barry Bonds is from the Steve Carlton school of dealing with the media - i.e. you've had your chance to treat me fairly, you blew it, leave me alone.
Bonds is one of the nicest people I can think of in sports. How many times has he been disrespectful to the fans in San Fran?
One thing a lot of people don't seem to realize about Bonds is that he had to deal with a lot of crap when he played here (Pittsburgh). He's said in the past that the reason he left this city was less for money and more to escape the racism and the press.
I wonder if there's something in the air in this state that cities at both ends (and basically in different geographical regions of the country) are known primarily for having racist fans and awful sports journalists.
