ROOT WINS 2ND TITLE DEFENSE
Jack Root (13-3) scored an UD15 over George Gardner on 3-15-1903. Root overcame a broken nose in the first round to eek out a decision over a game Gardner.
This was the rubber match between the two as Gardner won a UD10 in May of 1900 and Root won UD10 in July of 1901.
Root continues his rags to riches career with his 12th straight win after starting his career 1-3.
Gardner suffered a cut under his right eye in the 8th and it seemed to affect him over the next 4 rounds.
I had it 146-142 in favor of Root. Tom Trunzo ringside had it 144-143 in favor of Gardner. In my second experiment with bias judges I like the results. Champ 1 scored it 144-143 and Champ 2 really scored in favor of the champ 148-141. The random judge had it 144-143.
I am going to continue using these because I had alot of close rounds in this fight and I firmly believe you have to nearly dominate a champion to take his belt by a decision.
Gardner fell to (5-4-1)
