Ninth Inning
JOE: One out for Seattle. Scott Williamson with the 3-2 pitch. And Williamson gets the K. NO! The ump calls that a ball, and Ryan Winn is aboard.
TIM: Look out, Joe. Here comes Terry Francona, and he doesn’t look happy. The ump turns away, but Francona is in his face. He’d better be careful…
JOE: Yep, he’s gone. It figures. We’ve had everything else this game. Now we’ve had a manager tossed…
JOE: Jason Varitek leads off for Boston, and that’s a nice hit right there. He’s going for two. Yes! He’s there and would it surprise anyone if Boston rallied right here?
TIM: Not me. What time is it anyway? Midnight.
JOE: Mike Myers walks Mark Bellhorn, and Boston once again will get the tying run to the plate. Seattle will bring in Hasagawa to try and shut this down. Boston’s leadoff guy is up, Johnny Damon. He got this started many hours ago with a leadoff homer... But this time he hits into trouble. Aurilia takes it and throws for the out at first, but that is all they get…
JOE: Bill Mueller hits another double play ball. Yes, they get the out at second… But Mueller is safe at first. A run scores from first. Manny Ramirez is up with two outs and the chance to tie it.
JOE: The pitch to Manny. Popped straight up. Out. Game over – four hours and 25 minutes after we started. Would you believe that Seattle has rallied from 8 down to win it by 3? Whew. Tim, I’m tired… Join us again next time for more Fox Saturday Baseball.
