FITZSIMMONS REMAINS PERFECT

Bob Fitzsimmons (13-0) retained his Middleweight Title belt with a KO14 over #5 Charles McCoy (8-3-2) on 6-14-03. The victory was Fitz's 4th title defense.

Despite it taking 14 rounds the outcome was never in jeporady. Fitz dominated from the opening bell. McCoy showed alot of heart, getting up off the canvas 6 times before the ref counted him out on the 7th knockdown. He went down in the 7th, 12th, 13th and then 4 times in the 14th.

Both myself and Shane Macleod at ringside had it 129-116. The official judges had it 130-115/ 128-116/ 129-116.

On the undercard

WW - Young Peter Jackson MD10 Joe Walcott
LHW - Jack Dempsey TKO7 Dan Dwyer (Dempsey stepping up to LH for this fight)
MW - Joe Butler KO7 Edward Rollins
MW - Denny Kelliher TKO2 Al Greenfield (Greenfield welcomed back to the upper level)
LHW - Charlie O'Donnell TKO6 Jack Stewart
