ROOT CITES LACK OF COMPETITION AFTER TITLE DEFENSE
January 15th, 1904
Jack Root (16-3) defended his LHW title for the 5th time with a TKO1 over #4 JH Brown (5-6 but rated a 1). Root claims Brown claims brown should of never been in the ring with him. "The better fighters in this division are too new to be sanctioned by the LBA for a title shot."
Root denied rumors that he would move up to the HW division after the fight. Joe Choynski stated "Jack is the one who picks his fights if he thinks they are too easy then why doesn't he fight me again?"
On the undercard
