MCGOVERN CONTINUES KO STREAK
February 28, 1904
The last 6 fighters that Terrible Terry McGovern (16-2) has faced have ended up recieving a 10 count. George Dixon (9-4) has now counted for 2 of those 6 times.
Dixon came out strong and took the fight to McGovern in the first. From the 2nd round on though it seemed everytime McGovern landed it stunned Dixon. It was a foul plagued fight for Terry as the ref deducted two points from McGovern both for holding and hitting.
Dixon's right eye began to swell in the 3rd. McGovern landed a straight right in the 5th and Dixon took a knee for a 2 count. Midway through the 7th McGovern connected with an uppercut that dropped Dixon for good.
This was McGovern's 4th title defense.
