Gans Makes 7th Defense
November 15th, 1904
Joe Gans (16-1-1) won a UD15 over #3 George Lavigne (14-5-1) to defend his LBA Lightweight title for the 7th time.
Lavigne rocked Gans in the second and dropped him for a 6 count, but Gans regained his composure and dominated the rest of the fight. Lavigne was cut under the right eye in the 7th but no other real damage.
Gans, by my count, won the last 5 rounds to win on my card 146-139. Jaret Morgan ringside watched a different fight scoring it 142-142. The official judges had it 143-141/145-139/143-141.
