Here are the exact original schedules for the AL and NL in 1901.

I thought folks might like to see what a very early 20th century MLB schedule looked like. You should find it quite odd. Note that the AL started its season later and ended it earlier than did the NL. Also, there are many conflicting dates in those cities which hosted two clubs, so both of the teams ended up playing home games at the same time. Note also the stretches of idle days; Pittsburgh for example has two instances of 5 days off in a row during the summer. The AL, due to its shorter calendar length, has far fewer instaces of such off day clumping. You'll notice also that the eastern clubs in both leagues did not play Sunday home games, as none were legally permitted to. Two clubs in the NL also chose to not play Sunday games on the road either.

There are a few doubleheaders in the schedules, but not many. In the NL, each team played just 3, with one each on the three holidays: May 30th, July 4th, and Sept. 2. In the AL, western teams played 4 twin bills and eastern clubs 5. In addition to the three holidays, all AL teams played a doubleheader on the last day of the season; eastern clubs played an additional twin bill on Sept. 14.

Remember that the AL had a different roster of member clubs in 1901 than it did later, so make sure your team IDs match up to the values listed in the schedule file if you want it to properly reflect reality.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the start times. All games have been set to start at 3 p.m. local time; doubleheaders have the first game set for 2 p.m. local time and the second game 5 p.m.
