New arrival
January 11, 1920
Dear Diary,
I have a new baby brother! I knew Mommy was going to have a baby because she told me. I asked her why she was so fat and she said it was because of the baby.
His name is John Francis O'Farrell. Mommy says that's because John and Francis are the names of my Grandpas. I just call them Grandpa, though.
I got to hold him and Mommy says I can help her take care of him when he gets just a little bigger. He is very small now. He doesn't cry very much, though.
Mike got to hold the baby too. Mary Catherine didn't because she is too small.
I have to go now because I have to finish a story before I go to school tomorrow. Miss Hardin might make me read aloud so I want to be ready. Ellen Maloney said she reads better than me but I think she's wrong.
Good bye for now, dear diary.
Miss Elizabeth Ann O'Farrell
