May saw the Atlanta Flyers make a big push (going 16-11 in May) and take the lead in the East by 2 1/2 games over Jacksonville and Norfolk. Bill Wetzel of the Flyers did not miss a beat coming off the DL, improving his record to 5-1 with a 1.51 ERA. Tim Steele adds a 6-3 record with a 2.64 ERA and 63 whiffs in 71 2/3 innings, and 3B Travis O'Connell's .389 leads the CBA in batting.
The Buffaloes continue to lead a tight Western Division. Houston leads Dallas by only 1 1/2 games, with San Antonio and Nashville lurking 2 1/2 back. Batter of the Month Matt Wille's 16 homers and 41 RBI are tops in the league.
