Norfolk 3, Carolina 0
Timing, they say, is everything, and the Clippers are big believers in that particular cliche today after Kyle Roemer (W, 12-9) threw a no-hitter to clinch the Eastern Division for Norfolk. Casey Pattison's two-run homer was more than enough for Roemer, who walked two and struck out two before the exhilarated crowd at Harbor Stadium. Kyle, not known for going the distance (averaging 6 1/3 innings in 32 starts), needed only 99 pitches to dispatch the Flyers.
Elsewhere, Tampa lost to Miami, 6-3, to finish two games back in the East.
