Three teams remain in contention for the Western Division pennant. New Orleans and San Antonio are tied for the lead with Dallas two games back with two to play. The Missions have been no-hit twice in September, a 6-1 loss to the Pelicans thanks to Tim Hathcock (9-7, 1 SV, 2.75, WHIP 1.11 in 131 IP) and Jared Whetstone (2 SV, 6.00) on September 18, and again yesterday at Nashville by Everett Lane (8-9, 3.93). The 2-1 loss to the Hounds plus New Orleans' 12-4 victory over Memphis knotted the division for the final weekend. The Drifters were shutout at Houston, 3-0, setting up two must-wins for Dallas Saturday and Sunday with the Buffaloes.
Meanwhile, Norfolk clinched their third postseason in a row on September 20 with a 5-2 win over Tampa. The Clippers will have the best record in the CBA for the second year running.
