Out West, San Antonio leads Houston by one with both Nashville and defending champion New Orleans two games back. Leftie Don Skelly (3-2, 2.36) and Pitcher of the Month Paul Jones produce a one-two pitching punch for the Missions.
In the East, Tampa won nine of their first ten, then lost five straight to end up in a tie for second with Carolina, a half-game behind the Miami Meteors. Last place Jacksonville, meanwhile, lost four-time All-Star 2B Richard Safford for the season with a torn calf on April 13.
Western Division Batter of the Month:
RF Scott Heyer (MEM) - Hit .364 with 8 HR and 22 RBI, out for six weeks with a pulled Achilles on April 24

Paul Jones (SAN) - Went 2-0 with a 1.91 ERA
Eastern Division Batter of the Month:
SS Raymond Timmerman (NOR) - Hit .354 with 10 HR and 20 RBI in 21 games

Bobby White (NOR) - Went 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA, ruptured tricep tendon on April 20, expected back by June
