June Draft Highlights
Tampa (1st) - LF Paul Speck, 21 (9/9/8)
It took $2.1 million to ink this leftie who hit .354 with 15 HR in 186 AB for Baylor. [Incidentially, Tampa had no cash entering the draft, and -$2.3 mil after the draft, so I guess you can go into the red for your draft picks.]
Nashville (2nd) - 3B Brian Dumas, 22 (7/10/10)
Hitting .368 with 20 HR in 248 AB for Xavier, this switch-hitter got a nearly $3 million signing bonus.
Houston (3rd) - SS Bill Rowell, 19 (7/7/5)
Out of Dougherty Comp HS (Georgia) with a .536 average and 9 HR in 102 AB, Bill is described as very talented and extremely durable.
Memphis (4th) - LF Bill Morgan, 21 (5/10/6)
With a .348 average and 10 HR in 170 AB at Norfolk State, this lefthanded slugger has all the tools.
Jacksonville (5th) - C Ken McBride, 20 (7/5/7)
This young backstop already has the skills to compete after hitting .310 for Stephen F Austin.
