TWO TITLES CHANGE HANDS!
The WCB Lightweight and Flyweight titles both changed hands in the month of December. The Lightweight division saw Benny Leonard wrest the Championship away from Joe Gans after the two fought to a highly disputed draw in their last meeting (many felt Leonerd won). Leonard boxed a masterul fight while many in the Gans camp felt that Joe may have trained too hard for the bout and came in tired. View the blow by blow account of the fight

In the Flyweight division, Jackie Paterson, a tune up opponent for Champion Pancho Villa was battered from pillar to post (as expected) through nine rounds. Paterson landed few punches, but the ones he did land counted the most. Referee Isidro Rodriguez halted the bout in the 10th round due to uncontrollable swelling around the eyes of Villa. The Champs corner protested the stoppage, but the referees decision was final. Jackie Paterson, with a horrid record of 2-0-1 (1), had stolen the Flyweight Championship. View the entire commentary
