As the curtain closes on another regular season, Bablylonian God Apsu was gunning for the CL Triple Crown. He finished 1st in HRs (101) and RBI (230), but his .471 average couldn't catch A Thetan's .480 so, for the first time in DCL History, no Triple Crowns will be awarded this year. He should have the MVP locked up though, so that's a nice consolation prize.

In the United League, the MVP voting will probably come down to Ometeotl (.463 / 91 / 196) or Odin (.469 / 88 / 203), who is gunning for his third MVP Award.

New Orleans looks to be in prime position to repeat as DCL Champions, as they finish the season with a league best record of 105-57.

The opening round playoff matchups are as follows:

Oklahoma City (83-79) vs. Memphis (88-74) - Memphis has a squad which does not excel in any one area, but is solid across the board. Oklahoma City has a very potent offense and a pretty weak pitching staff. Gamblers feel this series could go the distance, with Oklahoma City's offense eventually winning the war.

Phoenix (84-78) vs. Houston (93-69) - Phoenix has made it this far on heart alone, playing well over their abilities and somehow always managing to find some way to win games. Neither their offense or pitching staff is anything to get excited about. Houston, on the other hand, comes in with a spectacular pitching staff and a decent offense. This series will most likely see Phoenix swept back home to Arizona without much of a fuss.

Seattle (83-79) vs. New Orleans (105-57) - Seattle has ridden their excellent pitching staff into the postseason in spite of their below-average offense. They run headlong into a New Orleans team which is in the top 5 in all pitching and offensive categories and looks nearly impossible to beat. Experts see this series ending badly for Seattle, as well as quickly.

Pittsburgh (88-74) vs. Raleigh (90-72) - This series should be a battle. Both teams are fairly evenly matched, with Pittsburgh's offense slightly better than Raleigh's, but Raleigh's pitching staff is better than Pittsburgh's. This and the Memphis series are the two which could easily go the distance. Most feel that when the dust clears, Raleigh will be left standing, despite this being their first post-season experience.

9/11/3009 - Cleveland catcher Enlil is seeing the ball well as of late as he clubs 3 more HRs with 4 RBI in Cleveland's 11-10 win over Raleigh.

9/12/3009 - In the bottom of the 10th inning, New Orleans catcher Guru Nahak hits a long fly ball off of Stockton pitcher Barney Hicks that drops just over the wall into the right-field seats for his 500th career HR. His HR tied the game at 6-6, but Stockton went on to win 10-8 in 12 innings.

Nahak's 500th career HR ball occurred on 'Communist Night' in New Orleans and dropped right into the assembled Communists in the right field bleachers. The ball will be sold and the proceeds split equally amongst all Communists in attendance that evening.

uKqili's 500th HR ball landed in the Norfolk bullpen where it was collected by Norfolk closer Raul Diaz and returned to uKqili.

9/20/3009 - In the bottom of the 1st inning against visiting Cincinnati, Lewiston catcher Altjira blasts a 440-foot HR off of the scoreboard in center field for his 500th career HR. Altjira would go on to hit #501 in the 6th inning as Lewiston beats Cincinnati 6-5.

Altjira's 500th HR ball bounced off of the scoreboard and back into the playing field where Cincinnati CF John Scheffler grabbed it and threw it into Lewiston's dugout. Altjira has said that he will keep the ball for a month or so before donating it to his Aboriginal followers back in Australia.
