November 1st, 3009 - DCL WORLD SERIES

Game 1 - Confucius goes 3 for 4 with a HR and 4 RBI and Guru Nahak is held hitless (0-2, 2 BBs) as Phoenix takes Game 1 in Arizona, 9-6.

Game 2 - New Orleans pitcher Whitney Weiss pitches a complete game, scattering 8 hits and 2 runs in the 9-2 win, upping his post-season record to 3-0. Confucius went 0-3 with a walk while Guru Nahak went 1 for 3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

Game 3 - Phoenix continues to pitch around Nahak (0-1, 4 BBs) but mortal New Orleans CF Richard Swan hits a walk-off solo blast in the bottom of the 10th inning to give New Orleans a 2-1 series lead. Confucius went 2 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and a stolen base as Phoenix falls 4-3.

Game 4 - Phoenix steals Game 4 in New Orleans, 7-4, to knot the series at 2 games a piece. Confucius was 1 for 4 with a walk and a double while Guru Nahak goes 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored as New Orleans has a fight on their hands.

Game 5 - A 13 inning slugfest which sees 19 runs scored and 36 hits was a fantastic game. Tied at 7 heading into the 11th, Confucius rockets a 2-run HR over the center field wall to give Phoenix the 9-7 lead. In the bottom of the 11th, with the score still 9-7, Guru Nahak obliterates a pitch over the left-center field wall for a 2-run HR to tie the game. New Orleans loaded the bases following the Nahak HR, but incited an inning-ending double play to keep the game alive. With their bullpen absolutely depleted, Phoenix had no choice but to make 20-year old SS Nelson Pineda come out to pitch the bottom of the 12th. Pineda hadn't pitched since high school, but managed to escape the 12th with 2 hits and no runs. Pineda came out to pitch the 13th as well, but retired only one batter before allowing two singles and two walks to give New Orleans the 3-2 series lead with the 10-9 win. On the day, Confucius went 2 for 6 with a HR and 3 RBI while Guru Nahak went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles, a HR, 4 RBI, a walk, 2 runs scored and a stolen base.

Game 6 - Back in Arizona, New Orleans pitcher Kevin Powell slams the door in Phoenix's face as he pitches a 5-hit shut-out to win the World Series for New Orleans, their second straight title. Guru Nahak went 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI as Confucius is held to 1 for 4 with a single. The majority of the stands emptied soon after the last out, a weak fly ball to left field, but a few New Orleans and Sikh fans remained in the stands to cheer the repeat champs.

Guru Nahak was named Post-Season MVP for the second straight year as he puts together a fantastic playoffs. "You know, I have to be honest with you," began Nahak in the New Orleans locker room, "This second one...doesn't feel as good as the first. I know everyone says that it feels just as good, but they're being dishonest, I think. The first time we won, it was like...AMAZING, you know? This one, it's like...pretty cool and all, but not as strong." With no free agents to speak of which may bolt town, New Orleans looks as though they may be hoisting this trophy at least a couple more times when all is said and done.

In the Phoenix locker room, a dejected Confucius took only a few questions from reporters. "Well, first and foremost, you have to congratulate this New Orleans team. They have an excellent ballclub...I mean, this is the second straight year they won it all and that's a real accomplishment. We really seemed to have fate on our side as we worked our way through the season and the first two rounds of the playoffs and it would have been nice to win it all, but those are the breaks, I guess. It just really sucks getting here twice and not taking home the trophy...it's like baseball's version of blue balls I suppose."

Heavily favored New Orleans becomes the first team to repeat as DCL Champions with their 6 game win over the Cinderella Phoenix team. New Orleans' front office has done a tremendous job assembling this team as they look to be a strong contender for at least the next two years. With seven deities hitting the free agent market however, one team may choose to stack up on deities to demolish the competition.

Deity Postseason Stats
Guru Nahak .490 / 10 HR / 26 RBI
Confucius .397 / 5 HR / 20 RBI
