Johnson Gets Easy 10th Defense
April 11th, 1906
Jack Johnson (21-1) cruised to a UD15 over #3 Tom Sharkey (20-7). Sharkey was overmatched in every since of the word. He kept looking to land that one big punch that never came.
Johnson stayed to the outside and hit Sharkey over and over again. One of the most lopsided title fights in Louisville Boxing History.
Johnson landed 520 out of 769 punches for a connection % of 67.6. Sharkey only landed 114 out of 636 for a % of 17.9.
Johnson started Sharkey's right eye swelling in the 5th and dropped him for a 6 count in the 13th.
I had it 149-135. Aurelio Barrios at ringside had it 148-136. The official judges had it 148-135/149-134/148-135.
