Big Sandy Ferguson had worked in his teens as a lumberjack in the deepwoods of New Brunswick, and was later known in Canada as "The Fightin' Lumberjack". In his prime he stood 6' 3 1/2" in his stocking feet and carried 225 lbs. on his broad frame. Never a particularly skilled boxer, Ferguson liked to mix it up inside, bull the other fighter with his greater strength and thump the other fella's rib-cage with great sweeping hammer-blows.
