Here is Don Barry

DONALD "Red" BARRY HW

Hometown - Washington, DC, USA

38(3)-32-7

Don Barry and his bicycle were better suited for a hippodrome than a boxing ring, but the boxing ring is where he chose to ply his trade for eight years. A pitty-patty puncher with a bit of staying power and the ability to keep on running until his opponent could land a few decent punches, Barry did manage to win more than he lost; unfortunately the crowds didn't care for his style. Red was beaten by the best; Al McCoy, John Henry Lewis, and Joe Louis to name a few.

The Spokesman-Review had the following to say after a sixth round TKO to Tiger Jack Fox (whom Barry had out-pointed a year earlier when Fox broke his right hand):

"... through four rounds Fox walked around with his hands at his sides and punched Barry in the flat of the shoulders and back. While Fox made no attempt to protect himself, Barry tapped him harmlessly. In the fifth round Fox swung a wild haymaker that blew Barry off his feet, where he took the full count of nine. Fox ultimately floored him twice more in the fifth, and once more in the sixth before the referee stopped the bout."

That pretty well sums up Red Barry. A game fighter with no pop behind his punches whatsoever.
