Hey everyone!

I've tried writing in the Dynasty thread, but the league I did that in turned out to be uninteresting and in the end, not what I was looking for. Also, I do a significant amount of writing for the GUBA (my online league), so writing for my solo league too seemed like a little overkill.

However, this awesome new blog utility may make things a little easier, because I do like sharing my solo league with people because of its unique setup.

As most of you may know, I'm a hockey fan as well as a baseball fan. So what I did was set up a universe similar to the world of hockey. Not an exact replica, as I had to take some liberties here and there and limited the amount of teams in the league, but close enough to please my needs :) Not only did I set up the real life leagues, but I also have a custom names and nations set to accurately reflect the world's hockey population.

Currently, I only have North American-based leagues, as adding in the KHL and other European leagues turned out to be too much of an issue.

NHL - 20 team league
American League
Boston Bruins
Buffalo Sabres
Detroit Red Wings
New York Rangers
Washington Capitals
St. Louis Blues - my team
Pittsburgh Penguins
Philadelphia Flyers
Chicago Blackhawks
New Jersey Devils

Canadian League (current and past Canadian teams, plus one extra ;))
Ottawa Senators
Toronto Maple Leafs
Montreal Canadiens
Vancouver Canucks
Edmonton Oilers
Calgary Flames
Winnipeg Jets
Quebec Nordiques
Hamilton Tigers
Hartford Whalers

American Hockey League (AAA) - again, trimmed to 20 teams, real life affiliations where possible.
ECHL (AA) - same idea as AAA
Single A - generically filled
Rookie - generically filled

High School Feeder - In its entirety, the Canadian Hockey League. All three leagues. Ages 14-17.

College Feeder - Generally follows U.S. College Hockey. I took the most significant conferences in America and took 5-7 teams from each one. I only did this because I didn't want too MANY feeder players to overpopulate the draft and I didn't want to trim the HS Feeder.

League Settings
- 94 game schedule
- No interleague play
- Offensive production slightly below Major League averages - league ERA in the 4.20 range and a .260-.265 average.
- Draft pick trading on
- Compensation on
- Free Agency and finances on - finances dialed down to 1950's levels (I started in 1950)
- No automatic adjustment of league modifiers or financial data - I will do them manually if I feel like it.
- Hidden players on
- Dev and Aging modifiers at .600 all the way around
- Player Talent Randomness at 50
- Holy crap, did I forget anything?

Anyways, this is the intro post. I will go over the general history so far (I am currently in 1958 - season 9) and an overview of each team as it stands today in a future post :)
