Post Question about financials and fictional leagues

Well, tie history into there as well.

I'm about to start my 100-year fictional league (to open as an internet league within a month). What I'd like to know is the following:

If I were to turn off financials, beginning in 1901, and turn them back on in, say, 1975, would the financials work as they should? By "as they should", I just mean no errors.

I know a lot of players end up with minor league contracts after awhile. I don't have a problem with that. I just want to know how feasible this is.

Peace
John

I just started a 100 year league, i tried to go with disabled financials, but that screwed up the ammiture draft process completely... it was impossible to draft playes, they just went into the FA pool to be picked over at will by CPU teams like any other FA.... really lame. So I am doing it with financial systmes on, which is kinda wierd but not too bad.
Let me know when your league gets going, I'd like to have a team in an online historical league starting in 1901...

I play with financials disabled and my amateur draft works fine every year.

The only thing I have a problem with is the fact that with financials disabled, the comptuer completely skips offseason trading.

I haven't had a single problem with the ammy drafts. I'm up to 1905, and haven't had a problem.

As far as the offseason trading goes, I don't see it as a problem for my league. By turning off the financials, I'm trying to promote team loyalty, and accurately portray the fact that a good number of players spent a lot of their careers with one team (or that, if they left, it wasn't really their choice).

I'll keep you posted on what happens. So far, I've had no problems.

Peace
John

The only potential problem with enabling financials is that many of the players (most) will potentially become free agencts at the same time, flooding the market.

Believe it or not, when trying to create a story, as I am with my league, that could be a good thing, instead of a problem.

For instance, all of the players head to the free agent market...a mass exodus of players...what a story that'd be.

*The fans needed more than just a scorecard to find out what players were on their team. Only three players remained on the team from a year ago, and one of them was the batboy, who became the starting shortstop.

As long as things simmer down after this (stabilize somewhat), I'll be happy.

Peace
John
