What is the alternate play-by-play configuration?

I’ve heard a couple of references to a second type of view or screen layout for OOTP. Is that the same as the different-looking layout that are available as downloads from some sites, where the playing field is more in the middle of the screen instead of the right side? How does one configure a new screen layout? I know how to adjust player positions and all that, but I don’t know how to structure the overall layout.
