Post OOTP4 developers check out PC Action Baseball

Hey guys I just saw some of the features for the new Playaction baseball game. The way they have their baseball reports, and league leaders are the type of things we should have for our beloved OOTP4! Check out what they are doing over there.

Uh oh OOTP, look's like a challenger is coming in. Those reports and screen shots look awesome.
I wonder if the ability for a career mode and player import is there?

This is another "replay" type game (DMB, SOM, etc). Some nice features and options but no import, no career, etc.....

Different type game.

Sortable stats would be a nice feature.

Hmmm for 49.95 I'd hope for more then just a replay game. Must be spoiled by OOTP. I never pay more then $30 for a game anymore. I either wait for the bargain bin or just don't buy. There are very few games actually worth what they charge anymore, and the time I actually spend playing the expensive ones never seems cost effective.

Although it never hurts to have other games come out, helps add to the wish list for OOTP.

(Just got Sega Gt and NHRA drag racing in a two-pack bundle for 9.99 at best buy.)

In addition, looking at their football game, the price for additional season disks will not be inexpensive either. I'm kind of spoiled, downloading a season from the Lahman database and replaying it for free...

I'll just continue to be more than happy with a career game, all historical seasons for free, and the ability to have fictional leagues.. for less than what it costs to have those things with the replays....

I do agree that it can't hurt to look at other games for inspiration though...

(EDITORIAL WARNING: I am not a huge fan of replay type games, doesn't seem as much fun to me to know that Player A will hit within a few points of .312 before the season starts.. to me the replayers are good tools/models, where as something like OOTP is more of a game, not constrained by real life, but adequately simulating what could happen, with enough volitility/variability to keep it interesting; both have their niches and both do what they are intended to do quite well, I just prefer one flavor of sim (OOTP) to the others (the assorted replay games) ).

OOTPers, I didn't post this topic to get people interested in Playaction baseball. I just think the way they have their reports and sortable stats is excellent. I'm hoping Markus can get inspired and create these type of reports for our beloved OOTP4. Steve I think you can see what I'm saying?

I loved the FPS stats display - not only sortable - you could specify exactly what stats would show on each screen, so you could have overall season STATS showing on the roster screen, but RATINGS v.R showing on your v.R lineup screen, etc.

I too just don't find replaying a game that the results are almost always about the same everytime you play it. I'm very happy with OOTP's career style.

Although I would love it even more with those type of reports. (hint, hint)

Night 2000,

Didn't think you were promoting. You are right on the nice set up on reporting. It's always fun finding cool concepts and thinking, I bet Markus could do that.

Thumbs up

What I want more than anything else in my OOTP world is sortable stats, umm and team records. Please take note Markus, I'm sure you have.

I really liked that way of sorting. I was told then that doing that would be very time consuming.(Not by Markus but by another poster.) Maybe this can be implemented.

The game might be worth it just to be able to play head to head over the internet. If only OOTP could implement this feature that was considered for OOTP3, but did not find it's way in.

I can't be the only person asking for this, can I?
