Game Addons
Is there any chance of a few enhancements coming in the near future. I would like to see gold gloves, fireman of the year, and most importantly, career minor league stats. It sucks when you have a guy that is being developed over a 5 year period and you cannot see his statistical progression or regression. And one last thing, why is there no summary pages for past award winners, and team performance. I know we have the "HISTORY" section, but it would be more useful broken down. Just minor things, other than that, this game is awesome and way too adictive.

i too would like to see Gold Gloves, and an award for relivers. Career minor league stats would also help, so u can tell if u r stunting a players development by keeping him to low.

It's not perfect, but you can manually keep track of minor league career stats - someone else on the board pointed it out to me. Export your minor league report before starting each new season, and there you go. I go as far as to create a spreadsheet w/ all the basic categories and import the stats of all my can't miss prospects.
I also think a custom awards feature would be pretty sweet. |

Well, the history section pretty much is the past award winners, and I've really never found a reason to separate those from the seasonal standings or leaders, and I'm sure Tiger Fan and others can tell you that it's a lot easier to have all the stuff in one file when you really need it than to have all of this different information in several different files. As for better organized history, I'd love to see that for the players section, but as it is, IatricSB already has a utility that corrects this. Also, if you don't know already, you can do something with editing the league history -- check out the FOBL for details of this stuff.

I agree with most of your assesment that the history page is just fine. No big deal. I also would like to see some kind of mod that reuses player photo numbers. By the time you go through 3 or 4 seasons, over half the players wont be using the fictional face packs anymore. But, say player number 00325 retires, that number would be reused and the face plate would apply to him. Just a thought. I forgot to put on here yesterday that the second biggest thing that is missing, next to minors stats, is career leaders. You can tell who is the best for single season records, but no career marks are kept. It would be great to have those stats,so we can track and see when one of our players is going to break the all time home runs record or not. Anyway, everyone has there little preferences, but all in all, this is the greatest baseball sim I have ever played, and if you are contemplating buying it, do it, it's well worth it.

When a player retires, his player ID (and corresponding photo ID) is recycled. Also, there are career leaders in the game. They are found under League History -> Career Leaders dropdown. |

Thank you very much, I just wanted to post and say your a great help. I know I should have know this by reading the manual, but I missed it. You guys are a great help on these boards. This is the first OOTP game I've played, and I just started at it. Thanks again.

Sometimes those images will look familiar because the same image may have been used for a player that retired and had his ID number recycled. About all your original suggestions on the top of the thread - I like them all, I'd like to see an awards breakdown page, year by year Series winners, more awards like gold glove/top fireman, minor league stats and post season stats too. IMO the league history page, edited or not, becomes so user unfriendly for browsing after even 2 seasons that it is almost unusable. If you are going to manually edit this file each year then the PSBL's version that Hammer linked to is one of the better versions I have seen. Of course, it would be even nicer if some of it's details were viewable separately . About the minor league stats: Another way to track much of the minor league stats is to output top 100 minor league batters, ERA leaders, and maybe saves leaders to get some of the relievers stats. Examples are here, here, and here. You can output minor league stats from the LEAGUE LEADERS screen. |

More important to me than keeping minor league stats history, I would like to see playoff stats history.
It looks like the game has some support for this already, since it starts the line with the year number. It certainly looks like it is supposed to be a table of data. But it only ever contains this year. |

His V3 Reporter was the utility that I used most, and it sounds like V4 will be even better. In my V3 leagues, I always used the Reporter, which pulls data from within OOTP and stores it in spreadsheet form, to keep track of career minor league and playoff stats. |

I couldn't find that tool that helps with history. That's o.k., I'll export to a spreadsheet and figure it out myself. Minor league stats is a must though.

If you are really concerned with career minor league stats, probably the easiest way is to save your league after every season and rename the file appropriately. For example, if you're doing a modern-day league starting in 2001, at the end of year 1 (before 'Proceed to Next Year') make a copy of your league folder and name it MLB 2001, do the same after year 2 and name it MLB 2002, etc. That way, you can cycle back and forth between the year you're currently in and past years.
