HTML Utility hates my CSV files
Alright, I'm digging in to the whole CSV/HTML Utility thing, drooling at the prospect of putting both of these wonderful tools to work, but I have a problem.
I followed the instructions in an earlier Iatric post for using CSV reporter and it seemed to generate everything properly but when I go into the HTML Utility it rejects all of my CSVs saying each one has an error. Hmm! I took a quick peek via Excel and there's a lot of data in there. I recreated them all, same problem. Not sure where I should start troubleshooting them. Sorry to be a pain in the butt! I'm really looking forward to adding my stats to this utility. Thanks for all your hard work guys. BTW I read the instructions that came with the file and just created the team map. I re-exported and still got the same error with the utility rejecting all my CSVs. <small>[ 06-03-2002, 12:55 PM: Message edited by: Drinky Crow ]</small> |

Are you exporting the files one team at a time?
Have you clicked Select All for the correct 6 Tabs of the CSVReporter? Have you named the files YYYY_TTT_LL.csv and saved them in csvdata for the correct league? Do the TTT, match the Team Map? Remember do not look at the .csv files under Excel... ever (at least not if you want to use them) when you do this Excel won't load the file fully and you'll lose over half the data, which causes the utility to bomb. |

It all appears to be correct. I have all the boxes checked for the "This Year" and "situational" tabs. I export "all positions" one team at a time and name using the YYYY_TTT_LL.csv convention. The "TTT"s are all in my team map. The files are all saved into the csvdata folder in the proper league directory. But when I try to update with the HTML Utility I get a CSV for each file. It displays the file name so I know the Utility has found them correctly but it doesn't like them. I don't look at any of them in Excel. Hmmm! I think I'm really close and there must be something simple I've missed. Dang!

Post Step by step in as much detail as possible what you are doing and maybe we can see where the problem is.
Also have you set the options for the Utility to correspond with your league? |

It's amazing how much better this works when I don't have my head up my butt!
I was drafting a really long and detailed step-by-step description of what I was doing. And what I was doing was not using the "General" tab. Thanks, Scott. |
