We picked up a close one this time. We've been dropping a lot of those so far (2-6 in 1-run games). SP Jeffrey Garner had a solid outing (6 IP, 2 ER) and the bullpen was excellent. They bailed Garner out in the 7th and then put up two more strong innings. We scored an unearned run in the 8th on LF Spencer Flynn's RBI ground-out to take the lead for good.

More offensive troubles. SP Stewart Hickey went the distance for Freeburg and earned a 1-0 shutout. LF John Jackson put Freeburg on the board with a solo HR in the 2nd. It was all they would need and all they would get. We actually loaded the bases in the 7th with no outs, but squandered the chance to tie the game or take the lead. Frustrating.

We had a chance to get to .500, but our bats fell silent again and we lost on a walk-off home run. Tough loss. SP Tom Randolph took the mound for Troy and threw 7 innings of 1-run ball. PH Greg French led off the bottom of the ninth and parked one in the right field stands to give Troy a walk-off win.

Our offense poured it on today. We drew 7 walks to go along with our 16 hits. RF Craig Clark and LF Spencer Flynn each had 4 hits. SP Stuart Douglas went 8 strong innings, allowing only a solo HR in the 2nd. He also had a couple hits at the plate. We're now hitting .246 and we're averaging 4.5 runs/game. Big improvement over last year (.226, 3.9).
