Questions from a Newbie
I've done alot of research into text sims and have come across some good ones such as Fastbreak Basketball and the Pre EA Sports FOF series. Ive been using Baseball Mogul for MLB and with their points system I'm looking for an alternative. Ive read alot about the upcoming ootp4 and I think i'm pretty much sold on it. However I have a few question
#1.)How slow will this run on my 300 MMX labtop as apposed to my celeron 600 desk top? 2.)Does this game include an amateur draft? 3.)How realistic is the financial system, meaning is New York a large market and can players make A-Rod type bucks #4.)I'm under the impression that this game doesn't have real players, so how good are the downloaded rosters meaning do they include proper ratings, stats, and salaries? Someone with some patience please help an interested newbie out

1. I don't know, how much ram do you have?
2. Yes there is an amatuer draft. 3. Pretty realistic finacial model. All the markets are editable. 4. Rolen and I have made some pretty good roster sets that everyone has praised. =) |

When you say the financial engine is realistic, do you mean players can make up to 20 mil if not whats the max you've seen, and can you edit salaries of the roster files up to 25 mil of arod

The financial engine has been worked on... as such really no one here can fully answer your question. Yes the salaries of every player can be edited and you can make them what ever you want. In the older versions of the game the computer will seldom have a player who costs more than $12,000,000 a year, but you can edit the salaries.
This game is much more in depth than Mogul and in my opinion head and shoulders above it... I found this game and unistalled Mogul that day and never went back. The main thing to consider in this game is the amount of RAM you have... the game is incredibly realistic and saves tons of stats (much more than Mogul) as a result the database gets quite large, requiring a decent amount of RAM to hold it, so that you can run the game quickly. The more RAM the faster the game should run. (If you can store the entire database in memory then the game runs very quick). Of course the game includes an amateur draft (which Mogul didn't when I stopped playing). It defaults to five rounds, but you can edit the length of the draft to however many rounds you'd like. See above comment.. financials are being reworked... check out the screen shots of the front office pages for more details. The game doesn't include "real" rosters, which is why it doesn't have to resort to points. (IMO the MLBPA liscence is a waste of money) User made rosters have been outstanding and even include full minor league systems, ratings and stats corrected and salaries corrected as well. If you dig around the Game Pen Preview (screen shot #3 I believe) you can see a player page that has been edited to show you what kind of roster quality is typically provided. Hope this helps |
