How Will You Build Your Team?

What kind of team do you plan on building on offense and defense?

On offense I think I would like to build around two backs and two tight ends with a highly accurate QB while putting some speed on the outside.

For my defense, I prefer to run a 3-4 with two pass rushing OLBs and two tackling machines at MLB with my corners excelling in man coverage.

I'd like to build my team around Aaron Rodgers. Only option that makes sense to me.

Not Andrew Luck? He has age on his side.

I plan on building a team around the highest rated punters and kickers possible.

I'll use the draft a lot more than Free Agency. Free Agency is where teams can go to hell if not used properly. FA will be used minimally. I like to build dynasties through young drafts, letting some young players go after their rookie contract and replacing them with Fresh talent from the draft.

edit: In response to the OP's question I plan on using a run-first emphasis. I've always felt that running the ball is the only sure way to having a productive offense without a lot of turnovers. That of course means I'll need to find players with pretty good carrying ratings.

So, the Raiders' approach, then.

I wonder if zone blocking will be implemented in V1. I love and hate zone blocking at the same time.

I will get the best offensive lineman I can, and the best backup offensive linemen that I can. I will especially go after the best pulling guards. I will save money on the skill positions. Once my undrafted running-backs put up big numbers running through the giant holes that my OL creates, I will trade them off for better lineman or defensive players.

On defense, I will focus on stopping the run. A big space eating NT. Very physical linebackers. Cornerbacks who can tackle. My blitzes will come from the corners and safeties. I will save some money by going for guys that are a little bit too imbalanced towards the physical/run-stopping side and thus are somewhat weak against the pass.

If you want to score on my team, you will need to throw the ball downfield. We won't let you run or throw quick timing routes. When you do score, it will be quick, and then we will slowly drive down the field and dominate time of possession, tire you down in the 4th quarter.

Probably won't be too successful, but that's the style I like. I might even run some Single Wing if I can.

I will run a 4-3 scheme on defense and will build around a Will Linebacker who has range and a physical Mike Linebacker who can be a force in the middle. My Sam needs to just be a guy to eat up a block and help the other Linebackers roam without too much junk to deal with. I want to rotate at least 8 on my Defensive Line and have at least one 320-330 1 technique that I can put in there on 1st down and short yardage to eat up space.

I will want to have a FS that has range to cover the middle of the field and can cover a TE and even a Slot WR when needed. My SS needs to be physical, I won't worry about his coverage skills much as I want him to play around the the line of scrimmage. I'd like to have physical corners that will compete, they don't need to be shut down, but good enough to hold their own in man.

On offense I want to always have a nasty offensive line, I won't hesitate to have several 1st round picks. I will also want a quality pass catching Tight End and at least one WR with speed, no matter where he is on the depth chart I want at least one guy I can take shots with. I will want to establish the run, but have enough threats to make teams respect the pass, so I will need a very good (Doesn't need to be top shelf) QB to make it all go.

My Running Back will be able to do a bit of everything, I don't like specialty backs who only have one positive trait and the rest are below average.

I'm going to draft a QB every year with the first rounder until I get a keeper...then have him get injured because I have no decent guards/line haha

I like building a nasty pass rushing 3-4 with press coverage on the outside in FOF. I also love having a ball hawking safety behind all of that. Offensively I usually focus mostly on building a great offensive line (have used 4 picks on the line from the top 3 rounds in the last 3 years with 2 1sts in my most recent league) and then I bring in whatever skill position players I can regardless of style.

I will definitely build around a young QB with solid offensive weapons. Like the Falcons, but ideally with a better OLine

Okay, time to be serious,I agree with captincoop. #1 priority is SPEED. And also passing the ball 80% of the time.

In defense of my Falcons, I would just like to point out that before all of the injuries to this core of offensive linemen, we were actually playing pretty well. The injuries to Sam Baker, Joe Hawley - his backup Peter Konz, and Lamar Holmes has forced this team to come up with a decent enough offensive line from scraps and leftovers. And I must say, the Falcons offensive line is actually holding up pretty fine.

West coast to spread offense with a 3-4 blitz oriented D.
A flex Qb with good throwing and running skills, a must.

Cool My overly descriptive reply to how I will build my team

I like an aggressive 4-3 defense with fast edge rushers and corners that excel in man-to-man. A run-stopping MLB, coverage LOLB, and hybrid ROLB. One pass-rush DT, and a solid run-stop DT. Good coverage FS, and hybrid lb/safety at SS.

On offense, I like a good balanced west coast. Ground and pound rb, with a quick receiving 3rd down back (I really hope rb rotation on the fly is an option in this). 1st TE is a receiver, 2nd TE is a pure blocker. #1 WR is the star all-around playmaker, #2 is a solid route runner/posession receiver that I can rely on when it comes to third down. My slot #3 wr MUST be a speedster that can make plays with YAC. The QB is a pocket passer, none of the option crap that gets them injured or makes a run their second check. I like a QB that can read through all the progressions and only runs when they HAVE to.

i'd like to build a 3-4 with speedy linebackers and speed rushing ends. i want my DT to be big enough to clog up the middle and stop the run. my corners should be relatively tall, as well as a hard hitting SS and a run support FS who can drop back into zone.

on offense i want an amazing o-line with a speedy yet straightforward back. i want a receiving FB(if any), and fast and tall wideouts, i'd like a great blocking TE and a fast receiving one. at QB i want a mobile guy like Colin Kaepernick.
