Question: protecting cards
I am looking to put together a wall display of rookie cards of some of my fav players as well as WS and league pennants. In particular concerning the cards, is there anything I can put them in that would cut down on the bleaching effects of sunlight?
Obviously this won't be in direct sunlight, but I am just wondering. I'd hate to lose cards from the 50's and 60's to fade. What I'm talking about here is something where they'll still be viewable, but not as vulnerable to light. |

Hmmm, not sure about the sunlight protection. I have some of these:

what GGH has linked works, but doesn't protect vs the sun. I suggest putting them in UV protected sleeves first. Not sure how well those work however.

Go to a local glass shop and get some low-E glass. Low emissivity glass is coated with a thin layer of metallic oxides that blocks solar radiation and can reduce fading due to sunlight.
Caution; different low-E glass has different tints ranging from bluish to bronze or gray. Certain types are easily corroded and/or scratched. Unfortunately the best protection comes from the most sensitive coatings. You may not want to put the coated side in contact with your cards due to the potential for corrosion. The best way I've seen is to place the card in a "border" cut out so that it does not contact glass. Just like you would frame a photograph or painting.
