Question about Topps cards from late 70's through early 80's

I have a whole mess of baseball cards in my closet that I bought back in the late 70's (starting with the mini's in 75) through about '86-'87. I remember growing up and hearing horror stories about people's moms (it's never the dads) that toss out cards that wind up being very valuable.

My question is, will any of my cards ever become valuable? I'm looking at the price guides and they don't go for too much (a couple of dollars). Will these cards eventually go up a lot in like 20-30 years?

I don't see why not. As years go by, they will obviously become rare. That would then drive the price up.

70's cards should already be valuable while the ones from the 80's should be valuable in 5-10 years.

I still wouldn;t throw them away, but cards from the 70's and 80's were amss produced. I am afraid they will never be rare. But players the likes of Bonds, Brett, and Ryan all played in that era, and those cards will inevitably become valuable in 20-30 years.

I agree with hoover. You never know though, a son of one of the players could be really good and the Father's card will gain value. I have seen it happen.

How many kids are still interested in collecting cards? If it's just adults throwing tons of money away to buy boxes, price would gradually go down as years go by.

The new sabermetric-savvy generation will not touch any baseball card without proper stats!!!
