BZ 1427: 4 OOTP9 Issues

I have played (or tried to play) 2 exhibition games. I found these issues...

1. Minor League teams could not be set to play exhibition games.

2. Could not drag players to a different location in the ballpark.

3. Information regarding "Ball Location" was missing from the manual.

4. Could not substitute for a tiring pitcher (dragging was unsuccessful).

5. In 2nd exhibition game, (in the pregame screen) could not play because there was no pitcher slot to put in the visiting pitcher.

Hope this is useful.

Yes, they can. You just need to select the league in the upper right of the screen first. If you hit "Select League" and then choose to play an exhibition, the available teams listed are the current minor league.

You can even play a major league team vs. a minor league team. Just choose the Major League in the left dropdown, and you'll see the major league teams listed. Leave the left dropdown blank, and you'll see the current minors.

Don't quite understand that one. Do you mean moving the pictures on the ballpark screen? It isn't designed to do that.

I wouldn't doubt it. The manual's not 100-percent, I don't think, and that was a last minute addition.

Do you have the "warmup rule" turned on in game options? If so, it won't let you pull a player cold off the bench to replace the pitcher. You have to put them in the bullpen first.

I don't believe I've ever seen something like that before! Did you get a screen shot of it?

Yes, this worked

This still didn't work. If I selected "Major League" from the home team's left dropdown, then the visiting team would only offer the Major league teams. If I started with a minor league team, as soon as I set the left dropdown for the other team to Major league, the minor league team disappeared.

One of the most useful features in OOTP 2007 was that during a game you could adjust each player's location on the field. This no longer seems to be the case. [edit] I'm playing my 2nd exhibition game now, and once again I can move the players around. Don't know why I couldn't before. [2nd Edit] I'm playing another game now and once again I cannot rearrange the players. This is really wierd!

I lost my auto-select for this option while converting to OOTP9, but it has been reported elsewhere today that even with it set, relief pitchers could not be brought it.

Tracked this one down myself. During the conversion, the 2nd starter in my rotation apparently fell out of the rotation. When I reinstated him, he appeared listed in the lineup. Still, this is a minor bug. If you don't have a pitcher slotted into the current rotation, the game won't let you even fill the slot!

Thanks for your quick response. It is appreciated.

Erm, I am stumped. Once I choose the Major League in the left drop down, the teams in both the two drop downs to the right turn into Major League teams. If I choose the minor league team first, then choose the Major League in the other dropdown, the minor league and teams disappears.

It's not working.

Don't know if this is the reason, but you can move them around when they are the graphic including ratings, if its just the name text they can't be moved.

Oops. I didn't try that. If you have the major league team as the visitor, it works. I'll report that the ML team can't be the home team in exhibitions with minor league teams, though.

I still can't make it work either way - regardless of which team is home or which team is visiting. For me, it's either all majors or all minors - but no combinations.

I can get it to do the home team as majors, but I added to the bug report that you should be able to just pick any league in the left dropdown.

Thanks, I had already printed that chart out and, while it is better than nothing, it didn't give me the information that I was looking for (i.e., the "W" grid designations seem to display the outfield distances - regardless of where they are placed, and their are no definitions of the grid designations, which makes it problematic to determine how they should be used. Do any of the designations represent the foul lines? We just don't have the information yet.

One thought that I had was that I suspect that while I was still inside the Edit Ballpark module, I went directly to setup an exhibition game. Perhaps when I failed to exit the edit module completely, I was unable to reset the positions - and this caused the situation to just seem intermittent.

I continue to have massive problems trying to rearrange players during a game. While it would definitely be an improvement to be able to adjust the small text locations (they are not very well assigned relative to the graphic display), the problem that I am focused on is trying to move the graphic players (with ratings). For a while I was able to move them, now it has completely frozen.

For what it's worth, when I try to drag the player I can drag the text (as normal) but when I release the button everything is as it was originally.

Lightbulb Possible Cause of Frozen Players

I may have identified the cause of the frozen players. The screen resolution that I use is 1152x864, and I play in "windowed" mode. Sometimes I am unable to adjust player positions during a game. When I switched to Full Screen I was able to move the players. When I switched back to windowed mode they were frozen again. The ballpark graphic that I am using is 820x615.

Hope this helps.

Frozen Player Addendum

I am no longer playing Exhibition games and am now playing pre-season games. I note that, after about 5 games, in all the pre=season games I have played, I have been able to move the players around. Maybe this issue is tied to the resolution (as mentioned previously) and the exhibition module. Hope this helps.

Cannot change Player postion in pre-game line-up or change starting pitcher

I have just completed the update to OOTP 9 by doing a complete uninstall and re-install. I have a few issues.

1. On the Manager's home screen, I put in my name and birthdate and options (commissioner mode and select Cleveland Indians as my team). The manager name does not change, nor are my options kept.

2. When I go to play an Exhibition game, I cannot change any players in my pre-game line-up, cannot move players around in my line-up, cannot choose another starting pitcher, cannot warm up a pitcher in-game or replace a pitcher in-game (depending on the option), or make any substitutions in-game.

I am playing in Commissioner mode, so I should be able to do all of the above.

Your assistance would be appreciated with the above.

This issue was claimed fixed for the upcoming patch. If you still have trouble with this matter after patching, please post a link to this thread along with a detailed explanation of what happened and we will re-open this report. Thanks.
