OOTP not starting

I literally just bought and installed OOTP.

I installed it, tried to run it, the loading circle (Vista) popped up for roughly a second and then nothing happens. I tried a few times with no success and restarted my computer. That didn't helped so I uninstalled it and re-installed it. That isn't working either.

I've searched and gotten no help on this issue. I've ran OOTP 2007 on this same machine with no problem.

It's not a mac, and I double checked anyway, there is no terminal option (see common problems stickied thread).

Any help? I've been looking forward to playing for quite some time.

What anti-virus programs do you have installed?

Hmm, try disabling it (but Norton's damn near impossible to fully disable or uninstall) then rebooting. That might help. Just rebooting might actually help even.

There's been issues with AVG and having more than one running at a time so that's why I asked.

Yeah I saw the AVG problems.

I know I read this somewhere, but I'm not sure where on here. I just tried using "Run as administrator" and it worked. That hadn't even passed through my head as an option. Thanks for the help though.

Doh! The old faithful "try running as admin". Occam's razor, occam's razor.

I'll close this one now. I think we'll need to check the FAQs about running as Administrator to make sure it's there.

Canadian Baseball League - one of the last OOTP6.5 leagues still left, running since April 2002 SGCBL - a Lord of the Rings themed league with a very friendly membership and a commish constantly looking to improve the smallest of things
