OK, trade stuff.

I am working on a routine to display all of the trades and give a report on the trades. Since ratings at the time of the trade are either, not available, not accurate or turned off, I had another solution.

Show each players stats for the years after the trade for the team he was traded to: I.E.

OF Babe Ruth traded to New York for OF Greasy Hahnds and P Ben Dover.

Babe Ruth: 6 seasons - .345/.420/.745 340 HRs, 678 RBIS, 3 SB
Greasy Hahnds: 4 seasons - .220/.320/.766 3 HRs, 21 RBIS, 0 SB
Ben Dover: 2 seasons - 4-19-0 5.67

How does something like this sound?

Just got round to this thread - the entire collection sounds excellent except for this one - the last thing I need is to spend time agonizing (in clear, one shot detail) over my inept player management. You, sir, are a sadist.

Just kidding of course - these look great and I look forward.

Thanks for you efforts!

Yes, this league may not be very historically accurate, especially in 1961, with the trades, FA signing, injuries, etc.

But it is a very good 'alternate' universe.

I have another one that I am going to use as my test league that went from 1920 to 2002.

The trade screen is coming along slowly. I might have something this weekend.

I guess I should have gone with the easier routines first, but this is one that perked my interest.

Trading:

I redid this entire code, as I had some logic wrong and it was a pain, but the first part is working.

Here is how it will work. You pick a team and it will look through and find all of the trades this team ever made. Then, it will examine each trade and give you a report on the outcome.

So, if PlayerA was traded from TeamA to TeamB for PlayerB, then you would see how PlayerA did when he was on TeamB and how PlayerB did when he was on TeamA. Then, if one of the players went to a different team before three years were up, then it would also show that. But if the player stayed on the same team for, say, 7 years, you would see his entire 7 years.

There are a couple ways I could do this. Maybe I could just show the entire players career after the trade? Or show his entire career, with the trade line highlighted.

What do you think?

Here is a screenshot of it early on. So far it is just pulling up the players name that was traded (just one of them for now) and showing how he did the rest of his career.

I am using the CSV dump for a utility that I am developing, and I'm having trouble getting "players.csv" and "parks.csv" to load into a table. All of the others I've tried work fine, so I'm not sure what the issue it.

Have you used these files at all, and if so, did you have similar problems with them?

I have had no problem with the players file and have not messed with the parks yet. You may want to see if the " is messing it up in the name of the player.

OK guys...

I am getting somewhere.

Here is the HTML report on trades for Chicago for 1921. They had two trades that year. The first trade was Edgardo Eilzando for Frank Hester. It was done in January. As you can see by the URL, it shows the player, his ID and position and his career stats from this point foward for both players.

The 2nd trade was Colton Ford for Frank O Rourke and it also shows the same. Now this trade actually contained 2 more players, that is my next confusing step to do and also show any cash that exchanged hands.

http://www.sim2005.com/1957/players/Trading.html

I have not added any coloring yet, but I am using the style sheet provided by OOTP to keep the fonts and tables the same.

This could be very interesting.

Trading in OOTB2006

This tool would make the kind of hindsight review pretty helpful in the cited thread's discussion.

Thanks for the help. The quotes don't seem to be an issue in any of the other CSV's, so I'm starting to think that the issue may be the fact that I'm using a beta-version IDE. C'est la vie.

Thanks and best of luck

This routine is almost done. As you can see, it can be very helpful in solo leagues.

Just have to smooth out a few things and color it.

Nothing fancy, but a start for the hitting streaks:

Awesome work as always. Is there a chance to see post trade totals for the last line?
