Teams file editing
(re-wrote question......maybe someone will know)
What fields does the game require from the teams.csv file, if you wish to create a 'new' historical structure. (i.e. eliminate divisions, change expansion date & team name changes, )? thanks

100 views, no response. Maybe the question was off.....
one more time. What are the required fields for the game in the 'team' file when importing from a database (lahman or others). I don't think you have to have any of the stats but they will not be imported if you don't have them. You do need these:
yearID Year lgID League teamID Team franchID Franchise (links to TeamsFranchise table) divID Team's division team full name If you are doing MLB history and you want to change the structure then all you need to do is change the league and divisions to where you want them to be. I am building a DB for an online league and I have the league history importing from this file. It's also important to have the franchise file filled out.

yes...it is the franchise ID file...every team in the teamID file needs to be linked to a franchise in the franchiseID file or they will show up as defunct...I had this happen when I put in the wrong franchise ID in the team ID file.
