You asked, so...
When I open my league import_export via browse, it gripes about not being able to find part of the path 'C:\Program Files\Center of Excellence\devTracker\path.ini' That's the first time I run it. I haven't pressed Find. It gives the same error when I do press Find, however. I'm going to assume this is because I don't have the devTracker installed at C:\Program Files\Center of Excellence\ When I first unzipped, I extracted to a folder on the Desktop, and Setup never created a Program Files\Center of Excellence folder. If there's nothing in the default setup to require installation into such a directory, I'm sure you can see the potential problem. ![]() Not sure if that gives you enough information, so feel free to PM me if I can help further!

Okay, I'll have to take a look at it when I get home.
You definitely hit browse or okay first? Find won't work until the .ini is created. Either way, I'll give it a look.

Yeah. I get the impression it's not even creating the .ini file properly, given the error pops up before I ever press Find.

So, turns out it helps if you update the website with the correct download.
![]() I wonder if the server is not overwriting correctly when I upload the zip file, because I'm sure I put the new zip file in there. In any case, the good one is uploaded and I tested it on a 2nd computer. Works fine. Stupid mistake on my part, but better than a programming error. So now let me know if anything goes wrong.... ![]()

The Find button works like a charm now. I'll keep using it and see if anything else comes up. Thanks again for writing this, Neags!

Excellent news. Please do let me know if there are more issues.
I may have run into a potential very ugly bug today, but couldn't reproduce it. I ran a baseline, simmed a couple of weeks, and checked for changes. The program reported that everyone on my team went from a 1 to whatever their actual rating was. So, it apparently wasn't reading the baseline right for some reason. If this pops up for anyone, let me know and try to remember what your steps were that led to it happening. I'm a little swamped at work today, so don't know how much I'll be able to do about the league level and ages for the players, but we'll see. Thanks again for suggestions/feedback/comments!

Okay, some more commentary. A bit of background... I've simmed three days in-game since the last time I ran the program. Two games and one off-day in the schedule.
* The Find button again worked like a charm. Very nice addition. ![]() * When selecting a team to view changes for, it lists the collection of major league teams (16) and feeder league teams (12) four times in all. I don't recall if it did this the first time I ran it. * In the report, it lists the changes I saw last time, with the date of 4/28/2007, plus a new one of the same date. 4/28 is the current game date. Of course, I don't remember if the date stamp was different the first time I ran it, but I'm assuming that those dates in the report are determined only by the game date in the latest CSV export. It'd be nice to have them with their original date (date of CSV export, of course). Apropos of nothing, poor George Brandt's taking it in the shorts. Gap and contact talent down to 2 and 1 respectively!

All New Version of DevTracker Released!
There is an all new version of the oh-so-popular(
) devTracker now out!New features: *Added a date stamp to the results file *The results file will tell you how long since the baseline was created *The baseline is date and time stamped *You can now choose where to store your results! *You now only choose your league folder instead of your import_expore folder *May or may not handle accented characters properly! *Automatically populates the path to your player history folder *Link on the bottom for suggestions and feedback *Tells you where your results will be saved before you run the program *Much, much more! (Well, not really. That's just all I can remember right now) There were also a few bug fixes. This has worked well on all of my test leagues. So please let me know if something is broken or not working right or anything at all. Or just to tell me the stupid program sucks. All feedback is welcome! This will probably be the last release of devTracker unless there are a lot of serious bugs. Time to start on that next mod. Never should have started this.... now I'll never actually play the game..... ![]()

Okay, I lied. Another new version.
* Fixed a few bugs, because apparently the previous version wasn't writing the dates in all the reports. This one does. * Added a "Load Previous Settings" button that makes it super easy if you've run the program again. No more selecting each setting before running the reports. * Cleaned up the interface, rearranged some things. As always, feedback is appreciated. Maybe it'll inspire me to write the next mod I have in mind. ![]()

Another comment...
![]() Could you have the application look for the baseline in the league folder, rather than the folder in which the results are saved? Here's why I ask for this "feature"... I keep recaps of games and other things about the league in individual folders by game month (April 2007, May 2007, etc). I'd like to have the development tracker reports written to those folders, but when I run the devTracker, it looks for my baseline in those folders. It'd be nice if it looks for the baseline in one common folder, and it seems like the league folder might be a good place for that. Of course, I may be misunderstanding how the date tracking works. In any case, I had an old baseline from a previous version of the tracker that I wanted to use, but when I selected a folder to write the results to, then said find changes, I got an error dialog that said it couldn't find baseline.txt.

Alright. Done and done.
After another revision, by default baselines are kept in the .lg folder. But, you can also choose a different place to store it, and the program will remember it each time until you choose a different folder. By the way, to the thousands reading this... I've noticed some rounding issues with some of the ratings with the program. I have it programmed to round borderline ratings down, which is what someone said the game did. But every so often, I'll notice that the ratings on reports are one off from the ratings in-game. Anyone with any ideas?

Another new version! Because there are so many followers!!!
![]() This is the best version, yet, I think. Here's why: Baselines are created instantly! That's right. No more 30 second to 2 minute long creation of baselines. You click the button, and there they are! Here's why... The baseline is now just a copy of your players_batting, players_pitching, and players_fielding .CSV files. With a date attached of course. That's also why this version is not compatible with previous versions. It reads the 3 different baselines. So if you don't want to lose your previous baseline, use the old program until you're ready! Also, The output is a little different in that the notification of which rating is changing is based on the headings are in the .CSV file. So you will see "fielding_experience3" instead of "1B Experience". Again, your feedback is demanded...

If you're especially tech savvy, you can research the mono project and port the program over. I'll gladly offer up my code if you can figure out how to use mono to output a linux/mac version. I read over it a little, but I know next to nothing about linux or macs.

Usually that will happen if it can't find a baseline to read or something. Did you create a baseline first? If it happened after using the Load Previous Settings button, try starting from scratch, loading your league folder, choosing your settings, creating a new baseline, simming a few days and then click Find Changes.

New release out. Two major bug fixes:
*Accented characters bug confirmed fixed!!! *Previous versions didn't handle feeder leagues well. This version gives an option to include reports for feeder league teams. Now, by default, it does not include them. I've also noticed a tendency for things to get really flaky if you go a long time (4 or 5 game weeks) between running a baseline and looking for ratings changes. I don't know why this happens, but I'm investigating.

Major Bug Fix!
When the game introduces a new player, sometimes the player ID doesn't just go one higher than the last player. Sometimes it decides to sneak in and use an old player ID. I didn't know that. So that caused a lot of problems if a player say... 1451 randomly popped up after you run the baseline. Because the baseline doesn't know who 1451 is, it just decides to compare it to the previous guy in the baseline who may be 1450. That makes all the comparison's off by one guy, and you get results that look like: Player A batting power rating changed from 79 to 1. And that might give you a heart attack if Player A is your stud clean up guy. So, now the program checks player ID's to make sure that we're on the same page. Feeder league bug also fixed. So, download the latest version!!!

All you need is the .exe from the mod maker, the mono framework, and I'd have to do a bit of GUI re-writing. If there is sufficient interest, I'll look into the re-writing part.
