FAs ignoring me!

Not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm insane or what. But what I just encountered in my league is making me wonder.

I've got a standard MLB league and full minors (US only). I'm in year 4, with the season just ending. I got past Arbitration and to the Free Agency period.

Ok, so I go in, make a few offers (I know I did this, because the amount I had available for free agency got less and less....). So I hit Continue... no responses. "Ok, I figure, these guys aren't in a rush, the FA period just opened." Hit Continue again... nothing... again... and again... and again...

Long story short... none of the FAs I offered contracts to EVER replied to me - they didn't say "like the deal" or "I hate it" or "you're a nutcase" --- nothing! I simmed all the way to the start of the next season and didn't get a single FA to respond to my offers (and I WAS offering what they were asking for, down to the penny on some of them).

Any ideas what's going on?

Oh, and this brings up another issue: is there any way to see your FA offers?

That's something I'd like to see in the next patch as well.

Charlatan, sorry for the slow response.

A few questions about this issue:

1. Have you been able to replicate this issue?

2. Were you a commissioner using the manager "Act As" functionality at the time you made the offers?

3. Was this with the patched version of the game?

Thanks,

Steve

This happens to me as well. FWIW, I'll answer for me.

1. Constantly

2. Yes, that's exactly when it's happened for me.

3. Yes.

So not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be when using 'act as', but you get no communication from any FAs then.

Unfortunately, FA's are not the only ones who will ignore you in the "Act As" mode, so will scouts. If you send one to scout your team, which only takes 4-5 days, they will never report their findings to you.

It seems that the only way to induce scouts & FA's to respond to you personally is to get hired legitimately by an organization. Otherwise, it seems that you're just an invisible despot to them it.

1. Have not seen this (but most of the seasons since then I've been in the red and have not been able to offer FAs anything).

2. Was not commish - I've only run in Manager mode.

3. Patched: yes.

I'll create a new league and try to reproduce this. I have some weird finance thing going on where the revenue sharing amount is huge, so my team has a big negative balace on Nov 1, so I can't even attempt to sign FAs until say June or July).

Just following up on this.

To clarify, when you use the Act As functionality, you are not really the full manager of the team. As such, you will not receive messages for that GM, such as FA responses, trade responses, and so forth.

If you wish to control a team to that extent, you must formally take over the reigns for that team, by accepting their job from the Available Jobs screen.

I'll be making this a little more clear in the next version of the Game Guide as well, plus I have suggested to Markus that, if that's the case, we should make it so those options (offer contract, trade, etc.) are made unavailable when using "Act As".

I'm going to move this to Closed/Claimed fixed for now. Please let me know if you'd like to discuss further!

Thanks,

Steve

What is the reason for having an "Act As" mode then? That seems to me to be the confusing part.

Well, you can change their lineups, depth charts, force trades...
