Joe Nobody's

I understood that the Joe Nobody problem was to be solved with the first patch but I'm still getting them.

- Installed the patch.
- Imported a 6.5 league (Beer League)
- Added all minors
- Imported another 6.5 league (Fermentation League)
- Added all minors
- Found some Joe Nobody's

It's not a big deal to me but I thought I should let someone know.

I am using the demo, I imported my 6.5 league and simmed to the All-Star break. I currently have about 20 nobodys in my league.

You can check out the league here. I went through the teams and saw at least 10 different nobodys.

I got a huge number of Joe Nobody's (and other Nobody's), too. Most of them occurred in Nation #1 (that's the one I modified to be "Hobbits" for our league). Yes, this is the patched version.

Is Lobo any good?

Joe Numbers is theoretically possible, as well as Phil Newcomer.

Probably not, in your case, tied to one specific line in nations.txt

Well, I didn't modify anything, just installed the trial, imported and ran. Suddenly there are Nobodys and other players popping up everywhere.

Compare:

I think there is one too may commas. Try deleting one comma in each nation line where you have double commas. I bolded them for referance. Start a new league.

Actually, yours doesn't look right to me... I left that space there, because that's where the continent goes. Plus, yours has an odd number of ethnicities (either that or the baseball quality number is missing).

Shouldn't it be:

Can you compare stat lines from your UBL and the OOTP 2006 import to confirm that there was a Gaspard UNKNOWN last name that got transformed into Nobody?

Try placing a value in for continents. See what happens.

I will do that. I think it's a separate point, though, because I just finished re-importing using the default nations and names, and I still got Joe Nobody's (not as many, but they are still getting created). Various nations.

This is interesting... I changed my nations around, trying different things. When I changed my Dwarven Lands nation to be ID 1, it became the one to get all the Nobody's instead of the Hobbits. It apparently has something to do with that nation id.

I've been testing this a bit today in the next patch, and I can't get nobodys to create.

I imported a 6.5 league, added all minors, added a fictional league, and no nobodies. Then I imported a 6.5 league, added all minors individually, added a historical league, added all minors . . . no nobodies.

So, I'm cautiously optimistic that this has been finally resolved in the next patch.

However, as people have indicated, you will always get nobodies if the game tries to generate a name from an invalid name set. So you want to check that out as well.

What they said. The problem was with 6.5 imports and appears to be fixed.
