Spring Training

I hope this hasn't already been posted, but I don't know how to work the search function adequately to check.

I'm playing a fantasy game using the July 14th Mac patch, in Commissioner mode. The game is on January 4th, which is WELL before either the season or spring training begin (April 1 and March 2, respectively), but I can't access the spring training portion of League Setup. It tells me that spring training can only be fiddled with during the preseason. Uhm, isn't January 4th in the preseason?

If you go to the scores and schedule screen, then click on "auto play until event", it should give you the date the game's "preseason" begins. Auto play until that date, then you can mess with the spring training schedule I believe.

It does not. The only things listed are the date spring training begins (March 2), the date the season begins (April 1) and events subsequent to that. There isn't even a date after the season ends for the NEXT preseason to begin.

I've gotta believe that since I'm two months prior to spring training (and I have no winter or international leagues), I should BE in the preseason, but the computer doesn't agree with me.

Thank you for the suggestion. I believe this qualifies as a bug.

I've always seen the event of Pre season begins able to be simmed too.... usually for your spring training starting on 3/2 it would be early days in Feb. 2/1 - 2/4 or something.

Preseason begins one month prior to the start of spring training. Everything in between the end of the playoffs and then is considered the OFFseason.

In looking through Battists' expansion to the Manual, I found the answer: There is no preseason before the first season. The first preseason begins thirty days before Spring Training of your second season.

Actually, you can only futz with spring traing during the OFFSEASON. If you are in January your are then in PRESEASON. If you have spring training already scheduled you are fine but if you don't you have to wait until the offseason to add it. You must add it before the preseason however.
