Leagues no longer import historical rookies
Not sure what happened between the 2nd part of the patch and the finalized version, but the game has actually become more unplayable for me now with no end in sight.
I've made a couple dummy historical leagues, both starting in 1950. The leagues import fine, the first draft goes fine, then nothing afterwards. I didn't notice this until the 2nd try today (I posted that I was getting the illegal roster problem for the first time; I might know why now), but not one draft has happened in either league since the inaugral year of said leagues. I changed nothing on how I was importing players, the game was importing them just fine as is without my touching it. It looks setup to do so, but it just isn't doing it. I'd change something, but it's setup right, so there's gotta be something else wrong. It's stuff like this that makes it more and more obvious that SI has no intentions of making a game that allows historical play. Just so much going wrong, it feels like purely historical players are being squeezed out. I was already having a blah time getting into this version, this is just one more nail in the coffin. |

Skips Draft!!!
So I have just run into a very strange problem. I am running a universe with 4 leagues. Two of the leagues are not having drafts. Two of the leagues are having thier draft fine.
The game says the draft pool will be publish on a certain date. I sim till that date but it just sims right past the date. I stop the sim and there is no draft pool and now the next draft is schedule for the next year. Interstingly there is a amature draft on the first year the league is created but not on any other years. As I said this is happening to two of the four leagues in my universe. I have started this universe twice from the world template and the same thing happens. SPECS: I am running the most current update for OSX. I know most of the staff is on vacation, but am hoping someone has an anwser for this. ![]() ![]() Here is a screen shot that shows this year draft is scheduled for next year!!

I'm wondering if the "automatically import historical rookies" box was checked on your creation process. I'm guessing not. I don't do historicals, but I think this used to be checked by default and no longer is.

Also, I just tried two different leagues with the only difference being that with the 1st the db was on my "D drive" and 2nd the db was on my "C drive". 1st league the game stopped @ the draft time and gave me a "cannot find db" message, league 2 played through and the players were drafted.

However, I closed the game, reopened it and it now says it can't find the database, which hasn't moved from where it's been located since I installed the game. I've put in the address to where it's located on my system by hand, incase it somehow was wrong, but it was the same exact address. Every league I've started since installing the final patch has had this problem. Last edited by TheBishop; 07-30-2006 at 07:37 PM. |

TheBishop,
You are drafting the historical players - correct? This problem has already been reported in a similar post here What is happening is that the draft is getting rescheduled to the next year when OOTP imports the schedule on the first day of the preseason. The easy work around is to go into the Options tab in game setup and uncheck the "Auto adjust date if matching XML schedule is found'. This will stop the schedule importing, but you will have same schedule every year. The tougher work around is to stop on the first day of the preseason each year and change the draft date back to the current year. Hope this helps.

Shoot - unchecking the XML box doesn't work. Schedule is still updating.
Different work around. Go to the "Other Functions" button and select "Edit Schedule" . On the schedule screen, select "Schedule" and "Export to File". The default name should work. Select "Import from File" and import the schedule you just exported. Schedule should remain the same from year to year.

Ok...so this does not change anything. I am using fictional league with fictional players. I have unchecked XML schedule and still am skiping the draft. This is definately a new problem since the last WIP build. I was using this template in ***58 but it is now having problems in ***62.
This is very frustrating since I have spent a month refining my template to only arrive at a point where it is unplayable.

I am having the same problem, but I am doing a fictional league with fictional players. My draft gets scheduled for the next year in 2 of my 4 leagues in my universe.
You can see my describition and screen shots here.

I have posted a testtrack note for Markus to address the issue. It is TT2414. Until then, there is a temporary workaround listed in this thread

None of the workarounds have worked for me, except to manually reschedule the draft at the beginning of each season. This is hardly a workaround since I like to sim around 30 seasons in one night. Now I can only do one at a time and then manually change the draft date. So instead of 30 seasons in one night, it now takes 30 nights.

I am sure this issue will be at the top of his list when he returns. Until then all I can suggest is do what I am doing in the meantime...simming a little slower and spending a little time getting to know the players and teams in my league.

The work around is doing just fine for me.
I've attached a screenshot. When you export the schedule, the default file name should be schedule_XXX where XXX is the league initials. Import this schedule back in. If this doesn't work, I am out of ideas.

TigerFan: I don't mind waiting. The main reason I am simming so large of chunks at a time is because I am trying to tweak my universe settings so I can get it to perform the way I would like. Once I get the settings the way I want, then I am going to slow down and enjoy the league with the settings I have fine tuned.
