Could not find Historical Database!
Entire error message:
"Could not find Historical Database! please check your database path in the league options!" I get this error every time I try to start a new historical league. The league seems to start alright with OOTP correctly placing all players on the correct teams for the year entered (I have been trying to start a historical league beginning in 1981), but before the game even starts (regardless of whether or not I use minor league teams or if I start the game as commish or even as an MLB manager - yes, I have tested this several times) I get the error message. Like I said, I can start the game even after the message. I've even gone into the League Setup screen and verified the correct path is in there (even have cut & pasted the path from windows). Th emessage pops up every rookie draft and at that point I can continue but no historical rookies are imported. I have tried the latest Lahman's database and even one of the most recent Arod23 databases. I am at my wit's end - I have searched the forums here and have found no answers. I am using ver. 1.0.3.12270 Can anyone out there help? last thing: this is not the first version of OOTP that I have owned. As a matter of fact, I have just installed the game (and activated my License correctly) on my new laptop. On my old desktop I followed all of the same steps and had no problems creating a historical league (started my last one in 1981 and got through 1987 before moving to the new machine)... Thanks in advance!

HT, try placing the Lahman Database on the C drive and not too deep within sub-directories. In fact, place it at the top so the path will be C:\Lahman5.3 and then start a new league, making sure to tick the box "Automatically Import Historical Rookies"
I know it doesn't seem like much but could you try this and let me know what happens?

Odd. Followed your advice and took it a step further. I copied my old (proven to be working) copy of the Lahman database to my C:\ drive and then renamed the folder "x". No problems now.
Crazy. Well, thanks for the suggestion - it seems to have worked. If the problem pops up again I will post about it.
