Crash when importing players

I have dowloaded all updates that I am aware of. At least when I hit the update game button it says there are no available updates. I am almost to the All-Star break in my season. I have tried to import a few players like Jake Peavy from 2005 and Ed Abbataicchio from 1905. When it gets to about 85 percent it crashes and shuts down the game saying that OOTP baseball 2007 has stopped working.

Does your version number say 2007.2.53, or something similar? The 'search for update' button doesn't work sometimes (my machine, for instance).

Yes that is the version that I seem to be running. Does that mean I need to update or I am updated already?

You're up to date, so the fault must lie elsewhere. What database are you downloading from?

Lahman and I have downloaded 20 teams of players already I just cant download any more now that the season has started?!?

Okay, you'll need to hear from someone who understands historical play, so please be patient until one of those shows up (bumping is counterproductive down here in Tech Support, since issues are normally dealt with from oldest to youngest).

My GUESS is that you've nailed it; you can't add players after the season begins.

Hi there.

I'm very sorry your issue has sat here for so long without a response.

Us volunteers are a little on the burnt-out side right now! That's not an excuse, though, but let's see if we can make some progress, if you're still around after all this time...

First off, there shouldn't be any limit on when you can import players, so there's something going on here.

A few questions:

1. Which version of the Lahman are you using?

2. If you create a brand new league, can you then import these players? (I'm trying to see if something is hosed in your current league file.)

I am not sure on the version of Lahman's though I think it was the newest. I set up my old league as a template and started a new one and was able to import new players.
