Manager was fired from team when I was GM
I am the human GM of the San Diego organization. After the playoffs, I receive a message saying my manager has been released. I didn't fire him. If I'm the GM, why did this occur and how do I stop it? As GM, I should have such control.

Right-click (ctrl-click on a Mac) on personnel in the Personnel screen to offer them a contract extension. You would receive a message if his contract ran out, so I'd imagine that's what happened.

He was fired. Any ideas? Is there a way to ensure I have control? A potential bug? |

Yes, I do play in Commissioner mode. I suppose you could say I was acting as the team -- I am the GM. (Fully hired!) "Acting As" always appears as the team you control (I think), unless you change it.
To answer you specifically -- I am not acting as any other team other than my own. |

Ok, I'm betting you've seen this because you're in Commish mode...
If you were fully hired, then you should be in control of coach hirings and firings, even in Commissioner mode, so if that's the case, this sounds like a bug. If you were just acting as the team, on many screens the game does make it appear that you are hired as the GM, but roster moves and personnel changes remain under AI control. If the AI has never made any demotions, promotions, trades or other roster moves for your team, then you're certainly the GM, and it sounds like turning on Commish mode then mistakenly puts personnel under AI control. If you've seen some unexplained roster moves, then what you've seen is not a bug, and you need to hire yourself as GM. |

I don't really know the answer -- I think the problem had something to do with the way I expanded the league -- I switched all teams over to my control, and then put them back afterwards.
I can't really say -- I went back to an older back-up and eliminated the issue. Actually, I've been involved in restarting my league lately based on things I've learned so far. So, unfortunately, I can observe this issue any further. If it comes up again, I'll definitely post it. |
