Game crash / Need help

Well, this is a day I was dreading...

There was a power outage this morning and the game is DOA. This has happened before but I was always able to reload fine. Now I just get a "Finalizing" window and the game hangs. Newest version. Mac.

The OOTP dock window shows "application not responding" and I have to force quit. But it's just not my current league that is dead. ALL the leagues I've created in the past won't load. Trying to load a Quickstart game gets me to the window where I have to "create new manager" before it hangs. Even trying to create a New Game doesn't work, I get to 01-02-2007 and it hangs. They all require me to force quit.

I backed my data up 4 days ago but the backups don't work either. Could it be that my data is OK but something with the game itself is screwed up? I'm guessing that someone is going to suggest reinstalling the whole game again. If I do do that, do I relace the new Data folder with my old Data folder?

Any help is appreciated.

Well I THINK I'm okay. I wish I knew exactly what I did so this could help someone else, but here's what I think happened:

I reinstalled the game. When I used my old "data" folder I had the same problem - nothing would load. So something in my data was corrupt.

So I compared my data folder and the data folder which came with the new install and, based on the names of the folder, replaced only those folders which SEEMED to be personalized by me (ie. saved games, logos, schedules, etc.) but left alone anything that wasn't (ie. fonts, database, skins, etc.)

And I seem to be back up and running. Hopefully I won't hit a snag as I continue but it's looking good.

This thread can be closed. If something else pops up I'll repost under a different thread.
