Issues with PCL league structure
redsoxford and I each posted about issues in the PCL (AAA) league structure when creating a new game using the standard Majors/Minors setup from the OOTP League Creation Wizard. I got sidetracked by supplemental beta testing, and both threads were closed:
ootpdevelopments.com/board/showthread.php?t=152626 ootpdevelopments.com/board/showthread.php?t=152270 The PCL has two subleagues, just like the Majors, but the League History pages do not print correctly; the list of league champions should list two teams each year (just as the Majors history page lists the World Series winner and loser), but instead only one team is listed, and not always the winner. There are also numerous problems with PCL awards for the Pacific Conference, which aren't recorded in the league history, and aren't always correctly assigned. In any case, the issue still exists in the latest patch build, and redsoxford has successfully diagnosed the issue. I reprint below redsoxford's post to the Supplemental Beta forum (my comments in square brackets): "I think I noted this problem in Tech Support in reply to someone else who had this problem. I'm just firing up OOTP to have a look at how the league is structured internally in the game after starting up an MLB style setup. I think the issue is down to the teams saying they're in one sub-league in teams.dat and the world.dat file listing them in the other sub-league. The abbreviation [in League Setup, both the American Conference and the Pacific Conference have the abbreviation AC, which is surely a typo] shouldn't cause an issue as internally the subleagues are referred to as 0 and 1. OK, I've loaded up an MLB game. In world.dat in the structure for league 11 (PCL) there are two subleagues. Subleague 0 is the American and Subleague 1 is the Pacific. Within Subleague 1 there are two divisions and the teams that are in the North Division are ids 53, 54, 55 and 56 and in South 57, 58, 59, and 60. If we now look at teams.dat, these 8 teams have a subleague id of 0 thus putting them in the American Conference. I thought maybe this was down to this subleague field being 0 anyway as the structure comes from world.dat but if I look at team id 15 (the Atlanta franchise) it has a subleague ID of 1 for league 1 which is correct (the National League of the MLB). That's where the problem comes from, the fact that the two sources that say where a team is in terms of subleagues don't match up. I went through teams.dat and set the sub-league id for teams 53-60 to be 1 and simmed the rest of the season and the history board and leaderboards are all accurate. I think my question in TS was about where the template for this is stored. The standard MALquickstart also has the subleagues wrong for teams 53-60, but I don't know if that is where the game gets it's details from for the MLB setup in New Game as there isn't a quickstart for any of the other available leagues on that screen." |

This has been claimed fixed for the as yet unreleased third patch. If after installing the patch you find it not to be fixed, please post in Tech Support along with the TT number given above. Thanks.
