Saving Messages very slow...but what messages!?

I started up a simple 16 team league and simulated 30 seasons. There are no messages in my inbox, yet the saving messages (and the loading messages) stage of the save/load process is extremely slow.....whose messages are being saved? I'm a little perplexed since I don't have any.

Can anyone enlighten me on this one?

(Yes, I'm using version 2.0.2)

Though there may be no messages showing in your inbox, the game continues to store these in the Messages folder inside your Saved Games folder. See this thread (especially the post by 1998 Yankees) as to how to delete these messages and speed the game up.

And as always, be cautious as to what you're deleting.
